Privacy Policy

The owners of Gushat Cottage and their agents, Rural Retreats, are committed to respecting and protecting your privacy as a visitor to our websites. Under the Data Protection Act 1998, we and they have a legal duty to protect any information we collect from you. We will not pass on your details to any third party, unless you explicitly give us permission to do so.

Registered website users

The only information you supply about yourself to register for a website account with Rural Retreats is your email address, name and the password you choose. This information is not shared with any organization for any purpose. In compliance with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, neither we nor Rural Retreats will send any marketing-related email to your email address unless you explicitly ask us to, which Rural Retreats allows you to do by opting in to their email newsletter using the checkbox on your personal "My Page". You can of course opt out again at any time by using the same control. Rural Retreats’ website will send you an email if you request a password reminder or if you request a change of password. The Rural Retreats website also records which pages you visit; this information is used internally for assessing the effectiveness of different areas of their website. Like virtually all corporate websites, the Rural Retreats website stores "cookies" in your web browser so that it can recognise you. This is purely a convenience and you can delete these cookies between visits if you wish.

Website user accounts which have been inactive for over 1 year are regularly deleted.

Customers

As you would expect, we and Rural Retreats store customer details such as name, address and past bookings in its IT system. We and Rural Retreats take our legal obligation to keep these details secure very seriously. These details are viewable by logged-in users only, and for this reason it is important to keep your logging in password secret, and to log out of the website after using it.

If you originally entered these details on the website, they remain available to you. If you originally supplied your details via another method such as by phone, then they will not be available to your web account until you supply multiple pieces of information which only you would know. As a further safeguard, payment details are not viewable on the website at all.
